  1. There are 2 IP addresses on a router, an internal (LAN) and an external (WAN).

    Your routers internal IP address is your computers default gateway address, use ipconfig from the dos prompt.

    If you just want to know what your current external IP address is go to a site like whatismyip.com.

    If you want a fixed external IP address you need to buy a static IP address from your ISP.

    If you just want external users to be able to find your connection you can use a dynamic dns product like no-ip.com or dyndns.com

  3. Here are the steps:

    Click on the start Button at the bottom

    Then click on the Run and a new small window will pop up

    Type in the Run window "CMD" and then click ok

    It will open a black window called Command prompt

    Type in that window IPCONFIG/ALL

    You will get many ip addresses, check the ipaddress correspoding to DEFAULT GATEWAY...This is the ipaddress of your router

  4. click start, then click run

    now type, cmd

    and open command prompt

    not type ipconfig /all

    this will list your ip address and dns's etc

    now it will say your defualt gatewatys ip address.  thats the linksys routers ip

    you can type that address in your web browers address bar to login to it

    just type this in your address bar and it will open your router

    To check the IP your router is using use ipconfig at the dos promt Ex. run  cmd (enter) ipconfig  or ipconfig /h , you will see how to read your ip address of your router and is using to connect the internet.
