How can i get a Remington 700P in .308 from a regular dealer?

I live in NY in the Albany Area and i am trying to get my hands on a Remington 700P. now the problem is i dont know if remington just allows any dealer to get the rifle but any input would be helpful and how i could go about getting the rifle

Go GalleryOfGuns.com and use the Gun Genie.  You can specify Remington, Model 700, .308 and then input your zip code.  It will then give you a few local dealers that have access to the gun you want.  Give em a call and see if they a) Have it in stock  b)Cost/Time to get it.

Whoever you talked to doesn't want to order the rifle. Or he has decided he doesn't want you to have the rifle. (?).

My distributor carries the whole Police line from Remington as well as many other makers. All I have to do is call and place the order. They are not restricted to L.E. only that I know of.

There are other rifles that are "almost" the same thing. 700 varmint and VTR. Look at the Remington website for heavy barrel model 700 rifles.

HI.... Just go to a Remington dealer and ask. If they say no just try another dealer.... Here In Syracuse the big box sporting goods stores have a list of what model rifles they sell.... One store may have what you want on the list and another might not so drop by and find out.....

If I am not mistaken the 700P is a police model and is about $900 to $1000...... I dont see any real clear advantage to having one when a regular Remington 700 VTR will basically do the same job in the $550 to $600 price range...... Of course I am a little biased. Anytime I see any gun manufacturer offer anything "tactical" or "police" I wonder if any of the supposed advantages are worth the price....
