How can i get a council flat in brighton?

my friend a woman got 1 by telling them she was getting grief of a neighbour ,they must have some criteria ,thanks

They have a waiting list and you need priority to get housed apart from waiting in line.

the council/housing association work on a points/priority basis.

my partner and i and our 2 year old live at my mothers sharing a bedroom.

we have been waiting 3 years so far. we have tried to rent privately but have been unsuccessful due to a ccj.

If you already have accommodation you will probably only get 5 points or if your council do it by way of waiting list then you will be waiting years.

if you look at housing waiting lists you will see most people on there have waited since the early 90's and if high priority, meaning they are homeless they still have to wait 1 year atleast!.

you friend most probably had to provide efficient proof of her claims.

you would normally get points awarded according to-

bedrooms per person (if 2 siblings of the opposite s*x share above the age of 11 then its considered over crowed)

disrepair- structural damage making it unsuitable to live in.

lack of basic amenity- bathroom,kitchen ect

insufficent-heating

if you have children then ponts are awarded if you lack your own garden.

they take into account your income, i may be wrong but you may not be eligible if you have an income of more than £24k a year (check that though)

in all its worth putting you name down as you never know when your luck might change.

good luck but its a waiting game and can make you mad at times.

i know of a single unemployed male who got a brand new 2 bed apartment that i bidded for! i was gutted to say the least, both my partner and i work all the hours available to us but it seems you only get rewards if you are unemployed.
