  1. A car!?   don't they have buses/trains where you live?   get him a bus card....how old is he?  is he mantally challenged? if not, then the sister should give him an incentive ( get a job of some sort,in 30 days or get out!

  2. public transportation and make him search for a good job or make him walk.

  3. Some vehicles will sell for that price - good luck finding one!

  4. Well first of all, it's not your responsibility to help your son get back on his feet. It's very considerate, but not necessary. He should be able to do it on his own.

Secondly, a car is probably not the best option, taking two things into account: A) He's going to go crazy since he doesn't have one already and probably overspend money he doesn't have on gas, and B) A bike would encourage him to get back on his feet for himself. If he didn't have you getting him  a car, he'd have to work his butt off himself--creates character.

Finally, if you're really insistent on getting this kid a car, go to a mechanic or small auto body place that you know and trust and see if they have any resources that could get you to an auction. They have them all over the place all the time and cars go for literally nothing. They're government seized and not always in great condition, but hey, what can you expect. Don't pay money for an online site that promises they'll tell you where the auctions are, because that's a scam. Just find out from some people in your area that are licensed and actually know.

Also, you could check Craigslist and find a really crappy car for cheap, depending on how populated the area you live in is.

All in all, a bike would be much more worth it.

  5. Buy him a $20 bicycle and tell him to get off his *** and stop smoking pot all the time.

  6. Why does it have to be a motor vehicle? You get what you earn. If he can't afford a car, he couldn't afford the insurance.

  7. Nothing is free in this world, get him a bike and let him ride to work!

  8. I'd like to know how old your son is and is there a reason he's living with his sister.  If it's a case of laziness, stop doing for him.  Mom's have the biggest heart and it's very difficult to get their kids to do things on their own.

Save your $200 and buy yourself something nice.  Hit a garage sale and buy your son a bike, many jobs around close to home if he looks hard enough..plus, it's a healthier way to get around.
