How can i get a job in foreign relations?

  1. It is a global econonomy - you can go with a government job, an NGO, or the corporate route.  Depending on your education and experience, you may have to start low down on the ladder and work your way up to the position you are looking for.

    In the US, consider - Department of State; United Nations; World Health Organization; or any Fortune 500 company.


  2. Depending on what you're trying to do...

    I would say start working toward an advanced degree from the best school you can find (Georgetown, etc.).  Get a slew of internships under your belt (even if they are unpaid).  

    Then you want to look at jobs mostly in the public sector.  I would suggest looking at the State Department to give you an idea of what you might want to do.

  3. The other answerer makes good points.  You'll probably also have to take the Foreign Service Exam - not an easy test!  Study up on it.
