  1. Almost every financial services company is looking for agents. Go to the library and find the SIC code for financial services and then look up the companies in your area that fall under that code.

Also just go to Careerbuilder, Monster, and the other job boards and put in financial representatives, or look under the category financial services and see what companies have posted job openings.

If you want to pay for one go to a site like infoUsa or such and buy a list.

  2. Financial services companies are always looking for new agents.   Agents are the lifeblood of these companies.  People who walk in are generally entertained.

What area are you from?  I suggest that you go to the website of the companies in your area and read up on them.  Pick 2 or 3 that are reputable and have marketable products.  Ask people you know what they think of this company.  Do some research to find out who you'd like to represent.  Then, look for their local office in your area and talk to the manager to get a better feel about the company.  Ask about their products, find out about how they compensate their agents, and what sort of training they have.  What incentives do they offer?  What sort of work is expected of you. Also, assess the manager while you're having your talk -- get a sense of whether or not this is the type of person that you can work with.

Take all these into consideration and make a decision.  I head a branch for a financial institution and know for a fact that agent applicants are welcome.   During the "interview"  both you and the manager will be getting a feel if there is a fit between you and the company as well as a between you and his/her group.  If there is, then they'd be very happy you walked in their door.

    Good luck!
