How can i get a movie on my ipod touch?

i have a burned copy of a movie and when i put it in my computer i said open folder to view files. then i copied the files into another folder called "Movie". then i went to itunes, said add folder to library, chose the "Movie" folder with the movie files in it. and nothing showed up on itunes. how can i get this digital copy and more like it onto my ipod touch?
