  1. Make friends with a bow hunter who might let you borrow one of their bows.  Join your local archery club if there is one close to you.

  2. Start crusing all local yard sales. You might not be able to get one for NO money, but I've seen bunches of bows that originally cost a couple hundred dollars sell at such sales for 20-30 dollars. Yeah, they may need a new string. Yeah, there may be no acessories or arrows included, .....but these things you can pick up one by one as you can afford them. All you really need to get back in the woods is a basic setup, and some time to practice with it. Remember, that 20 year old yard sale bow may be ugly, and may not meet todays standard for top-of-the-line, but chances are it's already taken several deer, and is willing and able to take many more. All it needs to do so is someone willing to pick it up and take it hunting again.

  3. Make one. No, I am not joking.

It may take a while, but it is very possible to have a new, extremely effective hunting weapon for "no money" -- or at least a ridiculously small amount of money. I just bought one of the most important pieces of modern tooling for making a "primitive" bow, and it cost less than $15 new: a Stanley (tm) Surform(tm) with two replacement blades (used drawknives can be had for the same amount at flea markets). And when you make it yourself, a bow seems to be more enjoyable to use...even with all that added challenge of learning to use it.

The only other options are to find a used bow at a yard/garage sale or flea market -- or to count on the good graces of friends/relatives.
