If you can't afford to buy a new phone, you can see if the old phone can be repaired - it might be less costly than a new one.

Or go to the cell phone store. Some times they have phones that people have purchased and returned. They will sell those for a reduced rate.  I dropped one of mine in water. I went in to get another phone (I did not have insurance). The phone cost me 100 when I signed the contract so I expected to pay that. But they said I would have to pay the retail price (even though they were now giving that phone for 50 w/ a contract). The retail price was 350.  I asked the lady how much to break my contract and she made a face and said "Ohhhh - 200." To which I responded "So it makes better sense for me to just break my contract - pay you 200 and take my business down the road to another company".  It was at that point that she went in the back and came back out and said they had a phone that had been returned w/in the 3 day limit they could sell me for 75.  I agreed to do that.
