  1. You can use Tang.  The citric acid eats the rust.  I love this website for household cleaning tips.  There is also a wire mesh screen that you can buy at the hardware store (i believe it's called hardware cloth) that will also help you scrub the water line away.  Happy cleaning!

  2. use a pumice stone.  ive used it on every toilet i've owned.  a couple of swipes of the stone over the stain and its gone.  magic.  no chemicals involved.

  3. Turn off the water to the toilet...flush.....pour some full stength vinegar in the toilet to the water line.....let sit....scrub.....sprinkle some comet or ajax on it scrub.....let sit....scrub again. Clean with vinegar 2 times a week and you should be good. It is the rust from the water. You could get in the habit of adding a little clorox every evening to help stop the rust.

  4. ajax with bleach works great and its cheap too. just sprinkle it in and scrub.

  5. Don't mix vingear with any cleaning solution. let alone comet. it has bleach in it. What you can do is pour about 3 cups full of white vingar in your toilet bowl. followed by some baking soda. pour as much as you like ( i like to watch it fizz lol) after it's done fizzing, scrub with a hard toilet brush. might want to let it sit for a while and scrub again.

  6. I get the same thing.  I pour bleach in and let it sit overnight.  Make sure you flush though before you use the toilet.  Ammonia (from urine) and bleach do not mix!
