I hear that since I have a BA in early childhood and elementary teaching certification too, i was told that i can work as a special ed teacher as long as i am in a master's program for it. Then what do i need to do to get certified by NJ? do i show them that i am in a master's program? Please advise me if you can, Any help will be appreciated.

  1. NJ Department of Education is the place to start. http://www.nj.gov/education/

The only time you can work in special education while going to college is under emergency certification which has to be requested by the district that hired you. Right now the only district that can do this would be ABBOTT School Districts however the gov has just placed a hiring freeze.

If you enter the college program once you graduate you send information to the state and you will be dual certified.
