  1. If you have family in Qatar and you will be living with them, they MUST apply through the Foreign Ministry Office in Doha for an invitation for you.  Without this invitation, you can only visit.  It is possible for a US citizen to visit with a tourist visa, but you are normally limited to a 30 day or 90 day stay (depending on the whim of the visa issuing officer at the consulate as well as the immigration officer at the airport in Doha).

    Step One:  Get the invitation

Step Two:  Take the invitation copy to the nearest Qatari Consulate (there's an Embassy in Washington and Consulates in New York and Houston) along with your passport and a photo (the consulate/embassy could potentially ask for additional documentation at their discretion)

  2. Just get your ticket and fly to Qatar. You will get the visa at the airport. You will pay a small fee.

Then when you are there, let you parent apply for a residence visa for you. It will not take time.

In Qatar, there are a lot of malls, resorts, beaches..etc. You will discover a lotta places when u come here. The heat causes many to go to malls and closed places.

I have been living here for more than a decade and I love it. If you have any other qs, I'm more than happy to answer u

    Good luck,
