  1. Best would be to go past at the Swiss automotive association TCS near your place and ask what exactly you need for the country you wish to drive in.

    Usually it's enough to have a simply translated copy of your licence - the TCS would do this and give advice on anything else.


  2. If you mean an international driver's licence then you should probably check with the countries that you are visiting that it is recognised / or even needed at all.

    I had one for a while but it soon became evident that they are not worth the paper they are printed on. They do not even count as identification in most countries. Most European countries recognise each others' licences, and that often works in a lot of developed countries too - eg Australia will let someone on a British licence drive there for three months without needing any other licence.

    If you really want to get one though, your best bet is to contact the AA or the RAC in your country, or you contact the equvalent of the DVLA / DMV / RTA in your country.
