you have to go get an extension on your visa before it expires , if not ? you will pay a fine for each day overstayed on your visa ,

What kind of visa do you have, Business or Touring?  

What was your original purpose in China?  Study Work Tour?    It largely depends on the type of visa you have.  Some visas can be granted one extension at a local public security bureau (so long as you registered within 48 hours after you arrived)  

Otherwise, you'll need to go to Hong kong..  And it is most unlikely they will grant another 180 days visa..  

My feeling is that you were probably issued an invitation in order to obtain 180 days visa as the consulates generally do not issue those without one.   So the answer to your question is maybe you can, but only one time in your local Public Security Bureau.

hi there. dont even worry about it. they are not toughlike u think. people can even come to china and get the visa in the immigration officer right away. all u have to do is to go to the consu and ask for extension. you can go to some travela gencies and u give them your passsport and pay them a certain fee. u can ask for a single entry or mulitple. single means no matter how manymonths they gave you. if you exit. u cannot use it anymore. unlike multiple as long as the visa is not expired you can still come and go. hope i gave you a good suggestions.
