  1. Practice!

  2. Everyone has their own form and way of drawing. Just use your imagination. If your drawing people, you can use the stick figure person and add arms and etc. If your drawing objects do something sort of similar by making an outline.

  3. practice.  You can start drawing realistically and then envision what they will become and then draw from there.  Some other exercises you could do is to take a picture of something and tear part of it up and paste  the central portion  down on another sheet of paper.  Then start drawing of what you would think the pieces would be to finish the picture in the outter areas.  It makes you think about the rest of the picture. For example you have center of a flower and part of the petals, but not all are there so you have to fill in the outer petals and leaves, just from what you memorize or envision the rest of the flower looks like.   Or start drawing lines randomly on a piece of paper  and then turn it upside down and then figure out what you could do to it next.  What is it starting to become?  Something that has some good things to try out is to get the book "Art Escapes" by Dory Kanter for some daily inspirations in drawing.

  4. practice

  5. It's about more than "practice". You need to learn to visualise things as basic 3D shapes, and other important basic drawing techniques. If you haven't learned these things, I suggest that you buy a good book on drawing or work your way through some good basic drawing lessons like the ones at http://www.drawspace.com .

Also, use photographic references to draw the things you imagine. Google image search is invaluable to an artist! You can also, for example, find an enormous number of poses for human figures on stock photo sites like http://www.istockphoto.com (for just drawing reference, you don't need the high quality versions of the images which cost money), and you can also use references for hair, clothing items, objects, animals, or anything else you imagine from your head. Most professional artists have a huge library of reference images. Basing your imaginary concept on a reference will strengthen your drawings a lot and teach you as you practice better than just trial and error drawing will.

    Good luck!
