  1. The key to being a good ds is being able to serve receive. While digging is important, serve receive is a difficult skill. Practice by having someone serve to you. The passes be about 1 foot above the height of the net at the setter's position.

  2. You probably know most of the basics.. straight and simple platform, angle arms to target, keep butt low... however, one of the really new and awesome things I learned was where to shift your body weight... to the INSIDE of your feet. I was always taught to keep your weight forward, but at a really elite camp this summer I learned that by keeping your weight on the inside of your feet and not the balls of your feet you can move quicker and react faster, without that lurching or leaning motion that can occur when you lean too far forward. This small change in technique changed my entire defensive game, and I now feel comfortable playing back row.

  3. keep you elbow's up and arms flat knees bent and puch off with knees don't swing your arms.

  4. Practice, practice, practice.

  5. getting better at passing takes time and effort.

but how you want to pass is on the left side of your body with your right foot forward and always looking at your target.

your balls should go straight to your target everytime as long as you are doing the other things as well such as: bending your knees, facing your target, moving towards the ball, straight elbows(dont bend elbows or else your ball will go flying off into an unknown direction), and also keep your shoulders square with your target.

you can practice this by just passing with your friend or just practicing getting in the position several times a day.

    hope this helps. =]

  6. you have to keep practicing, have a friend stand away fromyou and pass to her/him. keep those arms straight. practice a lot

  7. make sure you have straight arms and dont use your back.  use your legs!  you need to get low (bending your knees) and wen the ball comes to you use your legs, not so much your arms...  oh, and you need to practice...  a lot!

  8. What I do is practice against a wall. Throw the ball to a spot and try to hit it again and again remember to keep your butt down, don't lean, move your feet, and don't swing your arms! Good Luck! Hope I helped!

  9. I did the volleyball league at my school this year, and our team did many many many passing drills. Our coach would make us do them if we didn't do very well in our other drills. However, how my season went is not the point here. It's my advice to you. So, i would say to try the following:

    1) If you can get one other person (who can play volleyball) and start out with the basic passing, bumping and setting skills. And just keep practicing this.

Or, if you have the whole team, you can try this:

    2) Get everybody evened out. Get One line in front right and one line in front left. Only two people are on the court at one time. The tosser will stand at the back row somewhere and toss the ball to either front right or front left. Their job is to get good passes to each other so they can get the ball over with three hits. (Bump, set, spike). This was a very good passing drill to my team, and i hope this helps you.

  10. practivce on your own on a handball court. hitting the ball and passing it back aginst the wall will vary the speed n direction or you can just pass against it.  find a spot on the wall and try to hit teh same spot or within inches of the same spot to perfect accuracy.

  11. I would say to practice it with someone else that is pretty good at passing. This person will not show you how to pass, but help you in controlling your passes. I used to practice with my older brother and now i can pass it to anyone on the court. Control, that is all you need. And if there is no one, practice on a wall. Get some tape and mark the wall with an X. Aim to the X and after a while, change the X to another place.
