  1. Best to join either a pony club or adult riding club that has instruction. Or have lessons with the best instructor you can find/afford.

To become better at pleasure riding, simply ride out to lots of different places, preferably with a friend.

Horsemanship, a lot of this is learnt through years of dealing with horses and their issues. There are many wonderful books you could read and the Pony Club manuals are a great source of information for beginners through to advanced riders.

Showmanship is best learnt by watched people practise their craft. I'd go to the smallest low key event, take a look at the turnout etc. Then enter an event yourself. As you are competing you watch other riders, se what they do and learn as you go along. You may make some friends at these events, who may be willing to teach you turnout tips, and riding etiquette.

Good luck, there is so much to learn. I've been riding about 40 years, showed and competed for many years and still happily learning.

  2. Yes you can

First you need to go to  a trainer a good one,, No back yard ones ! only because some might steer you wrong ??

I have nothing against them ,, if they are trying to get a barn together,

But some only can teach you as much as they know !!!!

This question is a bit difficult to answer because

we do not know what you need or what level of riding you do  or even your horse e.t.c.

    give more information Please !!

Or go to,, Pets then Horses they have a some experts there !!

  3. I would recommend finding a competent riding instructor, talk to your local horse community, especially those that ride in the style you want to get better in.  Look into joining a 4-H club or Pony Club and gain experience from them and don't frown on so-called 'backyard trainers'.  Some of the BEST riding instructors I know simply don't have the money to start their own farm, money does not equal knowledge.  You can also look into the CHA ( http://www.cha-ahse.org/ ) they license riding instructors all over the country and you can search for a local instructor through their site.  Better riding comes through knowlege, practice and patience, you aren't going to get there overnight.
