Look into provincial nominee programs at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/p...

If you qualify for one of the jobs on one of the provinces list, your work permit will be faster and you will get permanent residency faster.

If you apply for a regular temporary work visa, be aware that not all of them give you the right to apply for permanent status later.
