i have a flea problem with my cat. she hates water and is very hard to handle. she hasn't been declawed, so her claws are quite lethal. i have called groomers, but they wont treat cats, only dogs. i plan on bombing the house, but havent come up with a remedy for the cat itself. my daughter and husband seem to be allegric to the bites. so i need to take care of the problem asap. any suggestions?????

  1. Frontline TopSpot. It costs more than Advantage but is better. It lasts 2 months (they say it lasts one month). To get some quickly, buy your first 3-pack from a vet but after that get it online.

  2. advantage and flea collars

  3. oohh...  should buy her a flea collar or buy one of those combs that kill fleas

  4. There are many safe flea products that you can get from your vet.  Some examples are Frontline Plus, Advantage, and Vectra.  There are also products that you can get that take care of fleas, intestinal parasites, and heartworms.  Two examples of these are Advantage Multi, and Revolution.  These are of course a little more expensive.  Stay away from over the counter products and flea collars.  They do not work as well and some are even harmful.  All of these products that I listed work very well.  Don't forget to wash the cat's bedding, vacuum and throw away the bag, and treat the house like you said.  You may need to treat your yard also.  Check with Home Depot or Lowes for outdoor treatments.  Good luck!

  5. Never, ever, EVER use flea collars. They are poorly made, high in pesticides, and can cause severe skin conditions, infections, even death.

Purchase it from a vet, I would recommend either advantage, frontline, or revolution.

  6. flea collar

  7. Advantage.  And then bomb your house.

  8. I find that the flea drops that i get from my vet to work the best and fastest. up here we use the drops every 30 days

  9. Frontline, works great

  10. You can buy Capstar and Frontline Plus at drsfostersmith.com . The Capstar will kill all the fleas on your cat almost instantly and the frontline will prevent re-infestation. Use the Capstar right away. It will kill all fleas on your cat with in an hour. It is imperative that you do not skip this. Frontline (or advantage, revolution, promeris, etc.) is only effective if the flea bites the cat. Fleas have a 3 week lifespan and only feed for a few days of those three weeks, so you must use Capstar to kill all live fleas on your cat. After you Capstar add on the Frontline Plus and it will keep fleas off your cat for 30 days. Any eggs that hatch will be killed when they feed by the Frontline. Refrontline every 30 days. No vet visit required and totally safe.

Frontline contains fipronil, which spreads via the body oils killing fleas within 24 hours and ticks within 48 hours. Ticks are generally killed before they bite, decreasing the risk of tick-borne disease transmission. Approved for use on kittens 8 weeks and older.

Frontline Plus also contains (S)-methoprene, an Insect Growth Regulator, which prevents an insect from maturing or reproducing. Approved for use on kittens 8 weeks and older.

You can use FRONTLINE flea and tick control once a month and it's completely waterproof. Provide your cat with the best flea and tick protection, right from the start.

Capstar - Treats flea infestations on pets. Starts killing adult fleas on the pet within 30 minutes. One dose lasts 24 hours. Use when pets are likely to be exposed to fleas. Also may be used prior to surgery, boarding, or grooming. Active ingredient is Nitenpyram, which interferes with the normal nerve transmission of insects, effectively killing them. Not a preventive.
