How can i get from penn station to canal street?

Im going to the city on wenesday and im going to take the train and i'll get off at penn station. from penn station i would like to go to china town/canal street.i don't like taking the subway so if there is another way please let me know if not the subway directions will do

  1. If you are going to Canal the BEST way is the subway.  You can get there in less than 15 minutes from Penn station.  You can take almost any train - but 1, 2,3, 6, A, C, E. train do.

    Other wise you have the taxi.  But the time and cost will greatly depend on the hour and traffic.

  2. You have a few options. Taxi and bus, but those are not fast (unless late at night, then the taxi would be pretty quick.

    But the best would be the subway.

    There are a few different trains to consider. 1, 2, and 3 stop at Canal and Varick St. The A, C, and E trains stop at Canal and and Church Street. These are toward the west side of Canal, but it makes for a good walk across to Little Italy and China Town.

    For lunch, Italian is always nice; but Little Italy in the Bronx is the best. I would go to Wo Hop or Hop Kee for Chinese food. These are on Mott St. After, it isn't a long walk to the South Street Seaport. It should be nice there this time of year!
