We have just brought a Pioneer DCS370 Home entertainment system and have a LG50PC5* TV we are hoping to connect a Sky+ box and have the full 5.1 surround sound, the only problem is the TV has optical digital connection but the Pioneer system does not is there any way to connect the 3 using a scart or any other device. We really want to watch the footie in full surround sound!

Thanks

  1. Hi Buzzb

    Bad news I'm afraid,

Having done a bit of research into this model I can tell you it won't be possible to either get the Digital output from your TV, or the Digital output from your Sky + box when you get one.

The problem is that the 370 doesn't have any 'Digital Audio' inputs (Optical or Co-Axial) so there is no physical way you can connect an additional digital input into the device.

I really can't understand why Pioneer have done this, but I've checked the technical spec (Weblink below) and it's fact.

The Pioneer system does have an RCA audio input though,

Your TV (And Sky box) will almost certainly have an RCA (red and Yellow plug) audio output. You could input this into the Pioneer system, but this will only allow you to to listen to your footie in Dolby Pro logic which is poor in comparison to Dolby Digital.

I do sympathise with you, it's tough buying Electronics nowadays as there are so many things to consider, a good salesman should have asked the right questions though.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

    Boris

  2. It says that your reciever has an HDMI input, and your TV should too, and I think your Sky+ box will have one too. If you can't use optical, then it looks as if HDMI is the only way you'll get full/true surround sound.
