Hi, ilive in the uk and am after basic building insurance for a property i recently rented out. the problem is I used to live in the property and between oct 2006 and oct 2007 i had to put in three claims for burglaries. on the third occasion the insurance company refused to pay out and cancelled my insurance claiming that there descrepancies with my claim. I totally dispute these and am not happy with them but there is nothing i can do. the problem i now have is i have moved out of the property and am renting it out. i want a basic buildings insurance but no one will insure me> hasanyone got any advise on how i can get insurance

  1. You can get a quote from any insurer of your choice. Most will still cover you.

Having had a recent lapse in coverage ( usually a lapse within the past year ) you will likely not qualify for the companies very best Home Owners program. But most will have coverage of some type available.

In respect to having three claims within a short time, You will unfortunately probably have to pay a greatly increased premium.

What you might need to do is just except the best offer they have at the moment and then after having continuous coverage for 12 months, especially if you are claim free for that period, you can again qualify for the better coverage.

    Good luck

  2. Yep, go to an independent agent, and offer to take a deductible twice as high as the largest claim that was paid.

You're going to pay through the nose, but it CAN be done.
