  1. I would start with going into a rugby hangout and call ing them a bunch of pansies.  If you out run them, you are ready.  If you are caught, your pain threshold should get a good workout.  I played until I was 50.  I am paying for it now . . .  I started with a hip replacement.

  2. well go running quite alot and start practising by passing the ball around a bit of tackleing (maybe the gym)!!!!

  3. Plenty of running (or cycling or rowing), don't worry about doing weights at the Gym - too late for that!

One good thing to do is to train the way you will be playing, i.e. sprinting short distances, getting down on the floor, getting up again, sprint, wrestle something (or box, tackle, something upperbody) then sprint and so on. Should help to condition you for doing that sort of thing in the game. Also, sprint carrying things - makes you legs work harder...

Good luck for the game and the season.

  4. Well everyone on the field has to be in shape (aka running condition). So go out and start running don't try to overload just do the best you can. Start out light and work your way up, even though you don't have alot of time it is better to run for a shorter period of time everyday rather than trying to run 3 miles at once. It won't be easy but the sooner you start the easier it will be come game time. Since you are in the pack you need to work on strength alot also. Even though you are not sure where in the pack you are going to be, the point is that since you are in the pack then you are probably one of the bigger, stronger girls, who are there for tackling and clearing out. Just work on catching the ball and tackling alot. Remember practice, practice, practice. Good luck, you will have a great time at the game!
