Question:

How can i get in shape for the Marine Boot Camp?

I have four years to become a strong, fit, fighting machine from a fat, burger munching animal. Im really lazy and boring. I want to just lose my weight and start a trainnig schedule. Any hints or tips?

  1. Get motivated, join a gym talk to a sports trainer

Start out by taking PE in school whether it's mandatory or not!  Add some diet-conscientiousness to the mix...  and as you get into better shape, start adding regular running to your routine.  Just watch what you're eating and drinking, and start adding endurance training, like walking and running, to your routine.  Being overly muscly but not having any endurance will NOT help you in boot camp.  They need less muscle than you probably think... and a LOT more strength, flexibility, and stamina in the legs and feet than you can possibly imagine.  

  3. I'm guessing if you have four years to wait your around 13-14. For the Marine PFT all you have to do is pull-ups, crunches, and a 3 mile run.

    Pull-ups: The best way to increase your pull-ups is to do pull-ups if you cant do any of those then work your way up to them by standing on a stool to get yourself in the up position and then lowering yourself as slowly as you can. your goal is to eventually do 20 in one go

    Crunches: Again the best way to build these is to do them. to build endurance just work your way up doing as many as you can.  to build speed do as many as you can in a minute rest a minute and then go again. your goal is 100 in 2 minutes

    Running. You should alternate days of running distance for endurance and sprints for speed.  your goal is 3 miles in 18 minutes.

    also a good reference for overall body strength is www.crossfit.com. this tells you day to day what exercises to do and even tells you when you should do off days.

    you should also check out your school sports.

  4. Do push ups, sit ups, crunches, pull ups and run.
