How can i get in to the multimedia feild

Question

ok so i am currently a student at UW- Parkside for digital art, illustration and design. my current job is a child care teacher, i have been doing this for a few yrs now! i am currently looking for a new job.. and i dont want to be in child care ANYMORE!! so with no work experience in the field i want to get in.. what are somethings i can do or put on my resume to start off my Career in design and advertising? obviously im willin to start at the bottom!

Well, first things first. You will need a portfolio. You can start by assembling mock advertisements- billboards, business cards, letterheads, logo design, packaging design. You can provide this to potential employers on cd or set up the images online.

As far as what jobs will be at the bottom, I would just recommend to apply to all open positions.
