so the company i work for was just bought last year by a major company and they still haven't figured out the all the health benefits stuff. after i worked there for six months, they automatically signed me up for health and dental--i want the health, not the dental--it's wasting an extra 50 bucks of my money a month. whenever i call, i have to have a password that is never the same, wait for the password to be sent to me, then wait on hold for hours, which i can't do during work b/c i'm working. anyway, when i ask a manager, they only have the same info i do. can i write them a letter or something on official letterhead asking them to cancel my dental? i'm tired of being docked for this--anything i can do? i'm unionized. thanks

  1. Write them a letter-send it certified.

Talk to your union steward. Get them involved. It's absurd that no one at your employer is assisting you with this!

  2. You can't do anything until open enrollment - that's the only time you can make changes to your benefits, on a group policy, unless you have a "life event".
