  1. I think this link is what you're looking for.

As you probably know on a carrier

flight deck it's too noisy to talk and only

a few of the deck director's are connected to radio's

talking to the Air Boss. The rest of the guys

use these hand signals to communicate

with the pilots in their aircraft.

The opening titles for Topgun have

some great footage of these guys 'talking'

    with their hands.

  2. There are many books on  hand signals and flag signals at the library.  Or go to the wiki link provided and you can download a pdf on aircraft hand marshalling signals.

Here are AA, we still use hand signals.  Sometimes the groundcom may be inop or there is no head set available etc.

  3. They talk on the radio.  What else?  End of story.

If you are thinking of aircraft carrier landing signals, you can find lots of pictures and diagrams by doing an internet search on "aircraft carrier landing signals."

    Have fun.

  4. Even tho I am giving you the EASY way out, you should just enlist in the US Navy!

Then YOU can spend 24 hour + days on the roof, dodging airplanes, bombs, tractors and Chief Hardcore!

Anyways, I digress. Check out these pages from MILPUBS. This is the link to page one:

    http://www.tpub.com/content/aviation/140...

Just click on the NEXT tab near the upper right corner to go to the next one.

There are also some tests at the end
