  2. Being born and raised in Canada, I have met some immigrants who have successfully gained a citizenship without any university experience. You'll pretty much be tested for a basic understanding of how Canada works.

There are many factors to consider, such as where you intend to move (Canada is the second largest country in the world, after all), and in what field you plan to work. You should also be aware of taxes you will have to pay (this changes between provinces), and how to manage your Canadian dollar.

I suggest you go to your local library and pick up some books on Canadian law and politics. Some history books wouldn't hurt either. Of course, the internet is always an option.

Also, you should take a look at this website, it should help you: http://www.cic.gc.ca/EnGLIsh/immigrate/i...

Trust me, you've chosen a wonderful country. Good luck!

  3. hello there!!!  I have just recently immigrated to Canada from America and let me tell you it is no easy task.  You must apply to immigrate here and you must qualify under a certain class (ie...family class, work visa, student visa).  I applied under family class because  my husband is Canadian.  It was a mountain of paperwork, police records and documentation.  Be prepared to wait at least two years (I had to wait 4 years) for everything to become official.  Go ahead and start the process while you are still in school to give yourself ample time.  I have a degree in History and it does help to have a good education because it raises your rating when they are assessing you to enter Canada.

I know this is overwhelming but it will be worth it.  I am here now and so happy that we stuck with it until the end.  Canada is a wonderful place.  This website is the site for immigration into Canada---www.cic.gc.ca.
