  1. no, there is nothing better than stretching. keep stretching all the time, because you can never stretch too much and your flexibility could always use improvement. good luck!

  2. How often are you taking dance class? The more you can take the better. It will take more than a week to loosen you up. Keep up the work and you feel a difference.

  3. Deb is correct in that you need to take lots of classes every week.  Stiffness could be not just flexibility but overall ease (comfort level and confidence) with the movements.  As you take more classes, moves become easier and more automatic (you begin to train your muscle memory) and you'll be able to focus more on finer technical aspects of the choreography.  Just keep dancing, it'll get easier.  Repetition is the key.

  4. hello-well as you stated you were doing stretching is the best thinggg really because the more you stretch the better everything is :) haha! what you should do is sometimes just put on random music and jsut go with the flow, just do your thing! :) eventually, you'll get the feel that others do. also maybe make-up some choreography it'll help to see what kind of dancer you are-maybe your just a different kind of dancer! :) that's a great thing! well i really hope I HELPED! :)

  5. Stretch and most of all relax. You seem really stressed about this so...don't be. You may want to sensor yourself from the upcoming cheesiness, but dance with passion not with focus on the technique as much.

  6. stretching definitely helps, but all the yoga in the world won't help you if you're too nervous to move.

    here's what i do:

i make sure that either no one else is in the house or that my room is locked. i turn off the lights so i can't see myself clearly. then, i break out my iPod and stuff the earbuds in. i turn it up almost full blast until i can't hear anything going on in the outside world. then, i just move and shake and jump around like a complete idiot, but an idiot that can't see what an idiot she looks like.

it's awkward and uncomfortable at first, but if you just close your eyes and go with it, it's very liberating. then, you get comfortable enough to turn on the lights and dance somewhat normally and more smoothly.

    hope this helps!
