i recently let my direct tv service cancel out since we are in a rut at the moment. but until next week when we pay them, how can i get local channels? all my stuff is still hooked up for the direct tv but im pretty sure it needs to be unhooked. what needs to happen for me to get local channels? do i need a special cable? or just the tv and rabbit ears hooked up and direct tv completely disconnected from my tv? can i keep the direct tv stuff hooked up and still get them? any advice would be great cuz im not sure and i dont want to unhook everything if i dont have to...we will be turning it back on within the week. please simple instructions as i am a lady and not extremely great at this stuff LOL...thanks

  1. There should be a coaxial cable (the one that screws in) running from your wall to the back of your cable box.  You need to unscrew the part hooked into your cable box and s***w it into the back of your TV.  If there is more than one place where it would s***w in, make sure you s***w it into the one labeled "in."

This will allow you to get your basic cable channels.

If your TV is much older, you may need rabbit ears, but generally TVs made within the past 20 years are able to be hooked up how I just described it.

  2. You can leave all of their stuff connected.  Just disconnect the Antenna input to your TV and either connect some Rabbit Ears or an external antenna to the RF F-Type connector.
