How can i get louder voice out of my surround sound???

Hello. I have a 600 watt home theater reciever. Its really loud but when im watching movies at night i have to turn up the volume when people are talking in the movie cuz i can barely hear them.. but when some action happens i have to turn it down cuz its wayyy to loud. I have the center speaker turned up all the way? and the other speakers turned down. and subwoofer at minimum volume but i still become louder then peoples voices?? Music sounds great loud and clear from the center channel? What can i do 2 improve the voice? the speaker is ontop of my tv.

  1. It's a calibration issue.  If you have a seperate AVR, run the internal test tones on your receiver and set the speaker levels equally with an SPL meter.  If you have a cheapie "surround sound" system, then you are out of luck.


  2. This sounds like common characteristics of a Bose system. If that's what you're using, get new speakers, there's nothing you can do. If not, it may be an issue with sound settings. It might be trying to play your movies in a surround sound configuration that your system doesn't use, for example if it's set to 6.1 and you're using a 5.1 system, that might explain it.
