poor thing. she has been under the bed since this morning when the earthquake hit. i've tried everything to get her to come out, but nothing works. she is acting exactly like how she was when i first got her, extremely shy, not making a sound, and refusing to come out from under the bed. and she hasn't touched her food or water, which worries me. i tried coaxing her to eat out of my hand, cuz that worked before when i first got her, but she doesn't want to eat. and i know she's very hungry, cuz she keeps l*****g her mouth. what should i do to help my kitty?

  1. Try putting food and near her under the bed and just leave. (dont forget a litter box outside of bed.) Just let her thing it out.

My cats were freaking out on me after the earthquake. My 2 month old one just won't leave me alone.

  2. Aww, poor baby.

I would talk to her in a comforting voice telling her everything is okay. If she seems to be relaxed, I would gently try to pick her up and just cuddle/pet her. Cats know what you are feeling. I would try not to act upset about the earthquake around her (if you are) and maybe she would feel more comfortable. I would let her sleep in your bed tonight with you.

I wish you the best of luck!

  3. May take her a day, but she will come out when she feels safe again.  When we moved to our new house, our cat managed to get into the wall and stayed there until we actually ripped out the wall two days later.

  4. Make a trail of cat treats leading to her food bowl and and then she will stay out and realize that nothing is wrong.
