Question:

How can i get my dog to come to me a listen to me every time i call him?

i have a 2 year old half cocker spaniel and half poodle dog that never listens to me when we are outside i call him and he just ignores me can you guys give me any advice on how i can get him to come to me every time i call him

  1. It's all in the energy you present to the dog. People that just go "come here, come here, please come here" usually are asking the dog. And it's like a toddler. If you ask a toddler to stop playing, do you think the toddler will? No, probably not. But if you do it in a no nonsense type of fashion, the "you will do it because I said so" type of parent voice, the dog will be much more likely to listen to you. But DO NOT just yell and scream and be mean. This will just teach the dog you're scary, and it won't listen to you then, either.

    I highly recommend Cesar Millan (the Dog Whisperer) and what he talks about with the energy you put forward. Most humans are not conscious of the energy they put forward.


  2. Start by calling him with a short distance in between you 2 (on a long leash). When he gets to you give him a treat and make a lot of happy noises. With time, put more distances in between you 2 and make it a very fun game. Never be mad when calling your dog. Slowly trade the treat for affection.
