How can i get my friend not to come?

There's a movie night at my yacht club tonight, and its the last big club event i'll be able to go with this summer. I invited my friend outside of the club to go, but now i wish I hadn't. I want to hang out with my sailing friends (who will be there) but I already invited her. Please help!! It's not that I don't like her, but I just want to hang out with my sailing friends one more time this summer before they all go home. (I live in a beach town)

You seem kind of stuck, but maybe if she's really a good friend, she'll understand.

Tell her that you're afraid you won't be paying enough attention to her if she goes with you because you realize it'll be the last time you get to see all your sailing friends and you don't want to ignore her, but you have a feeling that she might feel that way.

If she still wants to come with you -- knowing that you're going to be hanging out with your sailing friends, then that's her choice.

You need to be as honest as possible in a nice way so as to not hurt her feelings. And, hope that she's a good enough friend that she'll understand.
