  1. Most of the million dollar racers started when they were like 3 y/o.....Not to say you cant do it..but your starting a little late...One of the biggest things that your lacking is Family support...Without that there is no hope for you to make it...Every time you go to the track it will cost you 2 to 4 hundred bucks...To do it right you will need 2 bikes...Yz 85s $ 3.200 each...new..1 old used bike wont cut it...

  2. try and make a deal with them. ex. for every dollar you make they match it.

  3. Start doing some small jobs like grass cuting or yardwork, and buy it yourself. Plus it will feel better if you earn it yourself.

  4. Sorry to say it, but you most likely have already missed the boat if you are thinking of racing as a career as those who end up being the Chad Reed's and James Stewarts of the world started racing when they were just able to walk.  Only the very well known riders end up making the millions that you are talking about and you would have more chance at becoming a millionaire if you decided to pick up a tennis racket or a golf club.

Your grandad is also right in that you need supervision.  My A grade rider son who is almost 16 is not allowed to ride unsupervised even with a supercross track in our own backyard as the minute someone is not watching is when he will make a mistake.

You also do not know that you will be good if you have never done the sport and I know a lot of riders who ride very well but are still not got that extra bit that is needed to make it.

By all means get a bike to race and have fun with but don't expect to make a million out of it.  I would say at this stage I am about a couple of hundred thousand out of pocket for the sport that my son is determined to do and if your mother is short on money a bike will not help the situation as to race properly you need the bike set up properly and this costs a lot of money.

Ride for fun not money as you have more chance of having fun than getting any money.

  5. first off all i wouldnt start motocross with the view of making money because at 13 there is a slim to none chance you will ever make any money from it . your grandad is right that you need supervision but if you really want a bike ask him to put what he can towards it and get a satarday job to raise the rest . getting a pit bike would be  cheaper option to start with and if you stay keen your famlily might be more willing to help you get a full size bike
