  1. There are several factors involved. First, is there a question of coverage? If you had problems in the past, i.e payments or prior claims. Secondly, if other vehicles or property is involved, there may be an question as to who is at fault--I don't know what really happened.

As your insurance carrier, they should be obligated to repair your vehicle less a deductible if there is one and continue the investigation of the claim. My advice would be carefully review your policy to see if there is anything that mentions the carrier's right to reserve payment until investigation has been completed (your policy is a contract). Secondly, see if your state has an insurance commission and make a general inquiry about the delay before filing a complaint. Do keep in mind that you will need to be truthful in all facts and details of the claim--fraud in most state can be a felony.

  2. If you have full coverage then you just need to contact some repairs shops and get try to get some estimates for the repairs. You can then fax your estimates to the adjuster.

if you have only liability  then your insurer will not be fixing your car. It would be the other vehicles insurer if they were at fault.

You need to verify that cost to repair the damages to your vehicle are covered before you authorize the shop to begin repairs or you could get stuck with the bill.

Inquire with the adjuster about your choice of a Repair Facility and about if you'll be needing a rental car while yours is in the shop. Inquiring about a rental car will often motivate the insurance adjuster to begin working the claim.

Your insurance company may also recommend shops in your area for you to check out but the decision is yours as to which you want to use.

    Good Luck

  3. It looks like maybe they are still trying to determine if you have coverage or possibly who's at fault
