How can i get my mod files from my everio hdd camcorder to import into movie maker?

the files only work with the software it came with but i want to use movie maker....i need dummy instructions on how to get them to play in the movie maker

  1. MOD, MOI (&TOD) files from JVC Everio, & Panasonic D-Snap SD-card compresses video to MPEG-2 format. Video can be copied directly to PC via USB, however, footage appears as .MOD files. These .MOD file extension can be manually changed to .MPG to view the footage; however, .MOI will not accompany the file. When split, the clips can't be imported into (NLE) non-linear video editing app w/o first using converter app–> to create a unified MPEG-2 file. Check clarification on JVC .mod, together w/Carol's helpful lesson on MOD conversion using Prism.
