Question:

How can i get my modem working without the disk?

I recently bought a new PC, and had a spare modem connection from when i first bought the modem. However i can not find the installation disk anywere, does anybody know how i can install the modem without the disk, or were i can download the files. My modem is a Belkin wireless router, it doesnt seem to have an identification number - sorry

  1. Connect your PC to the router with an ethernet cable to one of the LAN ports, and power up the modem

    You need to login in to your router by typing

    192.168.2.1

    or if that doesn't work

    192.168.1.1

    You then need login and to put in a password, if you haven't changed it AFAIK this defaults to a blank password so click "submit" without anything else should log you in.

    If you can't remember your log in settings you will have to reset the modem, there is usually a reset hole/button on the back, hold the button down for 20s or during power up and it should reset.

    Once logged in you should be able to identify your router,

  2. find the model brand and google

    "(model brand) installation disk"

    i did it for my printer it works pretty well

  3. You just type on the explorer 192.168.1.1 and make configuration without using the disk.
