How can i get my newely bought albino oscar and jack dempsey more active?

I have 1 baby albino oscar and 1 baby jack dempsey but the oscar isn't so active. they are in a 30 gallon tank with a 55 gallon filter and water heater set at 75-80 degrees. i will move the guys with my pacus arowanas and an electric blue dempsey, tiger oscar, 2 green terrors and 2 red devils in a 800 gallon tank but any tips on what they eat and how to get them active?

  1. Oscars are notorious for sulking when you change their tank conditions. Takes a day or two for them to settle into a new home.

    Feeder fish is a sure way of getting an active response. Juvenile guppies should do the trick. Mine also like garden worms and are getting crickets at the moment.

    Your Oscar will grow a lot faster than the J.Dempsey, so keep an eye on them for potential fighting in the future.


  2. Try raising and lowering the tank's temperature just a little.  Then leave them as they are.  They would move if you put them in a big tank with predators that chased them.
