I've had my tongue ring now for about 3 years. The other day it started hurting a bit so i took it out over night, now I cannot get it back in...it seems like there is a tough piece of skin in the middle that it can't get passed and it kind of hurts...anyone know how i can get it back through without it hurting??

  1. It's probably infected... Because after 3 years, it shouldn't be hurting, and most definitely wouldn't have started closing unless it is infected... I have left mine out for a week at a time, and have never had a problem putting it back in.

Maybe you can try using gly-oxide, it slightly numbs the tongue, and will kill any bacteria there might be. just squeeze some on the hole, and try putting the barbell in again... good luck.

  2. Hate to tell you, but if you left it out overnight then that could've been enough time for it to start closing up (even though you had it for 3 years). Some people can take theirs out for a while whereas other people's close right up. Your best bet would probably be to have it pierced again. I've heard of people forcing the barbell back through and that is NOT a good idea; it's unsafe, and, um... OUCH.

Of course, you can always call your local piercer and see what s/he says.
