  1. What you need is a good athletic base, so make sure you're in good shape- running, swimming, etc. should do the trick. You'll need fairly good ball handling skills, so spend lots of free time passing/setting with friends on your badminton net, and practice overhand serving against a wall too. Once tryouts begin- give it 100%+. Do what the coach asks, shag the balls (get the extra balls rolling around, and put them in the cart), don't talk when coach is talking, and really HUSTLE to get every play you can. Being aggressive can only help you . I find at a young age like yours, girls are too concerned with being nice- letting the ball hit the floor, because they didn't want to be rude and take it from another player. Don't let that happen.

This is all you need, and you'll be fine. Seeking out a camp in your area won't hurt either!  Don't get too obsessive about your diet.  Cut out the junk food and fast food, and focus on healthier meals. Don't worry about how much protein, carbs, etc.

PS- Also come prepared to your tryouts too- good sneakers, shorts, kneepads and t-shirt- and wear your hair back- out of your face.

  2. Just try out. Sounds to me like youre a sure fire player for your 7th grade team.

  3. im on the team at my school and im also in 7th grade i realy just ate right and practiced everyday and when tryouts came since i had practiced i was better then alot of other girls so i made it so just practice and eat right but running is i good excersise for volley ball.

  4. Seems like you want it pretty bad. THATS A START! I hate girls who just come to practice and are so like unenthusiastic.. It seems like you have a week and a half until the tryouts.

    For exercises:

Do at least 100 sit ups a day

    Push ups

    run stairs (bleachers)

lift small dumbells for 20 minutes

    STRETCH ALOT- flexibility is important

    practice jumping

    do lunges

    run 1/2mile~1mile a day

grab a friend and practice bumping.

then you guys can do peppring (bump, set spike) back and forth.

    As for food:

I dont eat greasy food. I guess that helps to keep in shape? idk. Drink a lot of water.

    At the tryout:

be REALLY LOUD. call the balls, be extremly enthusiastic. Coaches love that. Dive for that ball and if dont know how to just pretend your trying by just falling. If it's your frist year and you show potentials and enthusiasm, you're likely to be on team. And wear like workout clothes. Nothing looks weirder than a girl who comes with make up and all dressed up at the tryouts.

  5. Haha....you are like i was....ok well i know there are going to be a lot of good answers before mine but i want you to know that this is from a volleyball player that has been playing forever and has learned tecniqes from soo many camps and professional volleyball players...so i advise you to listen to mine and anything like it....And yes, i did type this all...

    HITS; ALL KINDS:

Ok well first of all, if you've never played before it is going to be hard work! The first year i started playing, after the first practice, i couldn't walk for like 3 days because it was a lot of excersize and work....you will survive, don't worry...Just remember: Bump, set, spike!

The first thing you should learn is the main hit; the bump. This is the first hit. First, the placement of your hands. There are two positions for your hands. The first one make a fist with your right hand. Make it so it is vertical. Then wrap your left hand around it and place your two thumbs flat on the top of your hands. Then the second position. Put your hands in an X position; left on bottom. Then fold them inward, again placing your thumbs flat on top of them. Ok, try out both positions and find out which is better for you....After that I need to teach you how to hit the volleyball. Many people make the mistake of hitting with their hands....WRONG! You hit between your wrist and about 4 inches up your arms. Another mistake people make is moving their arms up and down to hit it....again WRONG!....You do move your arms a little, but mainly you bend and strech out your legs. Always bend your legs. Also the position of your legs. your left foot should be slightly in front of your right foot. So if you slide your left foot over, the heel would be in the arch of your right foot. There are 3 ways to hit the volleyball. Punch, touch, and cushin. You use a punch for a hard ball (like after a spike), a touch for a soft ball, and a cushin for also a hard ball. To do a punch, you move your arms 2-3 inches. To touch a ball, you move your arms 1 inch or nothing. And to cushin a ball, right when the ball hits your arms, you drop your arms. Practice these steps!

The first hit can also be an overhand pass if it is too high. This is like a set except instead of using your wrists, you use your elbows. First get ready like a setter hands liek this:http://business.library.emory.edu/info/s... your feet like in a bump. Then instead of pushing with your wrists, push with your elbows. So dont bang your wrists out. Keep your wrists were they are the whole time!

Next, the set. The setter stands next to the net. This is the second hit of the ball. The placement of the hands looks like this: http://business.library.emory.edu/info/s... you bring them down, they are on your forhead. To set the ball, you use your fingertips mainly. You just push the ball up so the spiker can hit it. Make sure you get all of the balls that just touch the net and go over. Thats your responsibility. Thats all you have to do.

Next: the spike. After the setter sets it to you, you gotta spike it; hard over the net. Ok, how do I spike? You must be asking. You step twice to get ready for your circle prep. Start standing infront of the net(not parallel). Then step with your right foot and then the left.Except when you step with your left foot, turn it so its parallel to the net. So now you are facing the wall. A circle prep is when you rotate your hands in a small circle going clockwise next to you. Then you point your left hand up to aim and slam your right hand against the ball then snap your wrist. While doing that, jump back to facing the net. Your left hand should end like hugging underneath your boob. You have just spiked the ball. Again, practice!

    SERVES:

There is the underhand serve and the overhand serve.

I would suggest starting with the underhand serve. Make your right hand (if you are right handed) into an "e" in sign language. Hold the ball in your left hand. Stand like in a bump hit. (your left foot should be slightly in front of your right foot. So if you slide your left foot over, the heel would be in the arch of your right foot.) Then prep yourself; pretend to hit the ball (swing your hand back and forth once) then hit it as hard as you can. BEND THOSE KNEES! PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!

Next the overhand. This was challenging for me. Don't do the jump serve until you are really good at volleyball. First, put your legs in the same postition as the underhand serve and the bump. Next, there are 4 parts of the overhand serve.

    1. Put the ball in your left hand with your right hand on top of it. Your arms should be streched out all the way.

2.Bring your arm straight back like and arrow.

    3. Toss the ball (not too high. So if you don't hit it it will land in front of your left foot. practice tossing) And step with your left foot. Also bring your hand up so your arm is in an "L" position.

    4. Hit the ball with all of your strength and follow through.(bring your arm all the way down) Also slide your right foot (on your toes) up so it is a little bit behind your left foot .

You just did an overhand serve.

    EXERSIZE EVERYDAY:

The main exersize: pushups....start doing 10 a day then go to 15 then 20 so on. Ok yes i no this is going to sound crazy but do you know the workout things in magazines like Seventeen and Cosmogirl? Do those! There is a new one everymonth and accually do them! Also there is this excersize called the scare crow. What you do is hold up your arms at a 90 degree angle each so its like an L on one side and a backwards L on the other. Hold for a minute. Then turn downwards (without a break) so it is a 90 degree angle downwards. Hold for a minute. Dont have a break! Do you feel the burn? Then turn one arm down at a 90 degree angle then the other arm up at a 90 degree angle. Hold for a minute. Then switch. Hold for a minute. Go back to the first one (both upward). Hold for a minute. Good job! Did you feel the burn? But dont run like a mile and stuff...you only do that when you are like in highskool!

    EATING:

As for eating....just eat regular! Dont eat too much fried food like french fries or bacon but you can have a little bit! However, dont go all crazy dieting! For 7th grade, you shouldnt worry that much! Yeah u arnt a baby i no cuz im goin into 9th grade and ive been playing since i was in 5th....but still....

    RULES:

Ok. First you cannot hit it with and open hand up. This is called a lift and the other team will get the point and will serve. Also if the ball touches the cealing, then the point will go to the other team. Also there are 3 games in a game(lol) The first two are played to 25 points and the 3rd to 15. But if one team wins both first games, then the 3rd game is still played but as a "friendship game" which is like all of the 6th graders and not the best 7th and 8th graders play.

    TRYOUTS:

First; dont be nervous! RELAX! Also be sure to call the ball loud like "MINE MINE MINE" "HERE HERE HERE" "YOURS YOURS YOURS"! lol yeah 3 times. This is really important!

I hope you have fun playing volleyball; it is a great sport. No wait. THE BEST SPORT!! :)

  6. work on your legs... run a lot.  Work on your core (abs), you can't gain speed without strong abs.  its where all your speed comes from.  and as far as protein goes, eat 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight.  if you weigh 150, eat 150 grams or protein a day, that is if you're an intense athlete.  if not, maybe a little less.  But i can see your dedicated, which is a big part of being successful.  im sure you'll get on the team, and with your drive, be the star of that team.

  7. ummm you should run suicides

practice on your serves, passings, ummmpractice on your settings and divings...i don't think thet will ask you to dive in try-outs but just in case

    =))

    good luck

  8. I think you should concentrate on english spelling first.

  9. You want to eat carbs that is for sure.I would definitely work on not being afraid of diving on ground. Drink tons of water. stretching is very important. think positive. dont be afraid to ask questions. never let a ball touch the ground and start weight lifting. if you ever expect to get the ball over the net you will need to have the streghth to. learn how to hold your hands in a way to have a flat surface to hit the ball and never run with your hands togetehr always say mine when going after the Ball and always listen to the coach and give her no attitude or Will sit on the bench all year long. If you get on the team good luck. also get a friend and set a goal everyday to volley the ball over the net 100 times with out hitting the ground and when you do that add onther hundred dont ever give up

  10. Invent Vollet Ball and put yourself on a team

  11. learn how to spell volleY ball

  12. dont worry about diets. just eat lots of fruit and vegtables. fatty foods slow you down. the key to making the team is to have good attitude.  i made the 7th grade team last year and am trying out again this year.

    best of luck !!!

  13. good luck

  14. just do whatever you can do to get on the team. Don't worry about what you eat untill you get on the team. I just got out of 7th grade volleyball :]. Just have fun with it!
