  1. just try to get your arms strong. you dont have to be TOO fast because you dont run A LOT.

when people get aggressive they run around and stuff but the most important thing is to have strong arms =]

  2. hey im also 13 and play volleyball... one of the things i do to keep in shape for volleyball is jump rope, lift weights and run... i either run on the treadmile or ill run around my neigborhood school!

    good luck :)

  3. Purchase a cheap practice volleyball (or ask your parents to) and use it in your backyard or local area - a carpark with a concrete or brick wall is idea.  Throw the ball up and go into a spike (watch those beachvolleyball players on TV, etc).  And do that for 20mins a day or several times a week - you'll soon build up your muscles for that.  Use a bent elbow and straighten it for your spike, upon contact with the ball, curl your wrist over, adding spin to the spike.

Practice with your friends - and if they play volleyball too - excellent, you can now dig, set and spike at each other.  If they don't play - they can pick up the skills too, along with you.  Just watch any beachvolleyball games to see the basic techniques in action.

Riding a bicycle around, will help you with your fitness.  Make eating not a pastime nor an entertainment (meaning - just eat for food only, and not for pleasure or for passing the time) - it is mind over matter.  Just do other things, instead of eating.. or eat something that is healthier, instead of just eating 'junk' food.  If you are exercising more, and eating less - your body shape will change.

If you put the practice in - you will get the confidence out.

You can practice the elbow flick anywhere, without a ball. Just start slowly first, so that you slowly warm up, and don't hurt your muscles. What this does, is that when you spike, you will automatically do a very fast positive spike - and all that practice - means you will always approach the net confidently and make proper contact with the ball, resulting in decent spikes all the time.

With lots of practice with friends - your ball handling skills will increase, such that you can do saves and retrievals, and be able to set from anywhere - even when chasing the ball.

If you keep up the practice you will be able to do all that and more...

You can also take up another sport.  I play Table Tennis also - when played hard - this is not a gentle or slow sport.  It can be played very fast (becoming very tired) and very dynamically. Some players are able to play far back from the table, such that you can smash at them - and they're able to keep the volleys up - by returning the ball back to you, and even be able to attack back at you. Do not think it is a lame sport with no action...

With a cheap practice volleyball, it will take the punishment on any outside surface.  You would not use an expensive indoor volleyball outside - as that will damage the soft outer skin.  Cheap volleyballs can take the punishment outside, because they are of a rubber ball type.

  4. try slow but aim to run for 15min. with out stoping. go to camps and practice every thing. you are young but have someone help u lift some weight.

    good luck

  5. Im 13 and I LOVE VOLLEYBALL!!!! IM TRYING OUT THIS YEAR FOR SCHOOL I HOPE I MAKE IT

  6. you need to have a good verticle so bulid up the muscle in you legs doing squats, lunges or even block jumps. Ya you dont really run in volleyball, but your body has to have enough endurence for long, intense volleys. do some sprints as well

  7. i am 13 and i also play volleyball, and most of the girls on my team are bigger than i am but it doesn't matter that much if you are overweight if you are in shape. so try to start running, lifting weights, and just try and eat healthier foods so you can have more energy....

    -hope it helps!
