How can i get red of a computer virus?

i know i have one my new computer is acting up being slow when im online a bunch of the same thing keeps poping up i got the computer from Arron's rental store its a place where u can rent to own so is there a way i can do it myself or do u think Arron's will do it for me

If you think you have a virus, the get an anti-virus program. You could also download an adware or spyware program that should get rid of that ad.

I doubt they will as its your responsbility to maintain the working of it.

You can however download some free software from the net to do some cleaning.

http://www.avast.com and download the free home version, install and choose to scan when next restart, any found choose option 2 to delete.

Then download a copy of spybot v1.6.0, install, update, then do a full scan.

Malware such as you have now (the thing that is causing all the popup's and slow preformance) is usually caused by Spyware, Adware or Viruses are the last thing on the list

I bet ist is most likely either Adware or Spyware.  Luckilly there are many options out there for you.  Some are free, others you have to pay for.  First, try some of the FREE malware programs like Ad-Aware 2008, for Adware, and Some of the FREE spyware programs that are out on the web.  Also, there are FREE AntiVirus programs out there that are fairly good.

Stop by places like Yahoo! Downloads, or CNET's Download.com and do a search for Spyware, Adware, or AntiVirus... and once you get the list of programs, you should be able to narrow your search to your particular Operating System, if you want Free programs, and things like that.

If after getting the programs, and you find that they did not help, you may have to completely format your hard drive and reinstall your OS.  This is actually easier than it sounds.  But you would need the OS installation CD to do so.
