How can i get rid of spiders???

hey i need help... i recently found a lot of spiders in my basement

and thats where i play ping pong!!! im going to go to a tournament soon and for me to win i need to practice and a lot but theres so many spiders down there and i realy hate spiders !!! plz help the tournament is very soon...

Home Depot has this product called Home Defense.  It works just as good as the stuff the pest control people use.

this sounds crazy, but i heard if you line the outside of your whole house with salt you wont have spiders or ants or any bugs that particularly crawl inside from outside.

Me too!  I've got a phobia about them and my one time job was at a lake where there are millions of 'em! The first thing is make the area as clean as possible- the spiders are hunting food. Then you can set off a "bug bomb/fogger" and get out of there to let it work. Make sure you follow the directions! The bug bombs are poison!  By the way, the moth balls also work, or so I've been told but, THEY are poison also, so be careful. Another neat little trick is to hang paper, plastic or cloth ornaments/pendants that flutter in a breeze (you have to have something to create the breeze). The fluttering material makes the spiders go elsewhere - I've done this over my boat at the marina and I swear by it, it really does work. The movement must make the spiders think there is a predator near by.

MOTH BALLS<< really!!! They hate em!! get a box and put them everywhere in the basement,, the day before the tourny then remove them all then use candles or febreeze to cover up the smell of the moth balls,, they do smell nasty to me but they do get rid of spiders for a fact!

Well it is hard to fully get rid of them especially when you have a basement. And it sounds like you might have brown recluses. They thrive in darker, and damper places. We have an exterminator come every three to six months. If you do have the brown recluse, you should get one their soon. They are poisonous. But it is way fun if they are in a sink or tub to fill it up with water then put some soap in because it breaks the tension in the water and they sink. I have a really bad phobia of brown recluses, I had one on my arm not long ago and I started crying, but my sister got bit so i have good reason. It is really funny because Im not scaird of hardly anything. Like I pick up snakes all of the time, lizards, cray fish and pretty much anything catchable.
