  1. You have kinda a hard job ahead of you, but

once it's done, it should last a long time.

Either this summer or next spring (before

the weeds germinate).  You need to pull back all the rock surrounding the pool.  Whatever

is growing under there, use the week whacker

and cut it to the ground.  Depending on how

far out you want the rock from the pool,

lay some heavy duty black plastic (made

for this purpose), next to the bare dirt.

Put your river rock back and you should be

    home free.

  2. COVER IT WITH A TARP... NO SUN LIGHT , NO PLANT LIFE..   THEY WILL ALL DIE WITH NO CHEMICALS..

  3. You need to move the rock and put down plastic. Spray weedkiller on under the plastic then put your rock back.It is alot of work, but in the long run you will save yourself alot of work.

  4. If you don't want to use chemicals which might be the easiest way that involves the least work you will have to take all the rock out cut the weeds to the ground and put landscape fabric down.  Make sure the fabric you use allows for water to drain.  Plastic does not,  If you don't use landscape fabric you will have standing water that won't drain which will be a home to all kinds of insects including wasps.  Once the fabric is down you can put the stone over it.  There will still be weeds that come back up though, round up is still the easiest way to handle them, just keep your pets away from the pool for a few days and they will be fine.
