If you are talking about fruit flies inside the house then make a banana trap. Put a chunk of banana in a glass jar and wait. When they start swarming the jar, put the lid on it, take it to the sink and drown them. Sometimes you have to do it several times, and make sure that all fruits and foods are wrapped or in the refrigerator and that you have your trash can covered or emptied.

Put some cider vinegar, in a water glass. Put a little water and dish soap, and let it stand on the countertop. The gnats will go for the cider vinegar and drown.
