  1. You might need to build up to this one.  The reason for this is that if you force yourself to get on a bike with him and go straight out on the open road you may well panic at some point and cause the very thing you are afraid of.  Start of small.  Just sit on the bike, spend time around it, maybe help your bf do some basic maintenance just to get used to being around the thing.  Start to learn a little bit about it, how it works etc.  Knowledge is power when you understand a thing you fear should become less mysterious and powerfull.  Then build up a little, maybe just get on and have your bf start it up.  Take a very short ride somewhere safe.  Build up slowly and I am sure you can beat this.

Your bf will have to be very understanding and paitient with you.

  2. Don't get rid of that fear! Trust your gut. It's trying to protect you.

They don't call these crotch rockets  DONOR CYCLES for for no reason.

  3. I have same fear but ı do not try to get rid of it...Because motorcycles cause accidents and I do not want to die this way.

  4. I think fear like that is something you can only get over with experience.

I'm sure you've been told the stats so your problem is you can't get your subconscious to understand what you want/understand, it will most probably only learn from experience.

Sorry, there is no majic answer to fear, no button to press that fixes all.

Start slow, real slow maybe just go around the block a few times, then build up.

Aim for the sky, imagine yourself loving it not in an accident or whatever other negative reinforcements you are thinking, as much as you can.

Or you could try hypnotherapy or go on lots of roller coasters! XD

  5. I don't like motorcycles, and will not ride one. However, my husband loves them.

I encourage him to ride. Just because it is not something that I want to do does not mean that he shouldn't do it.

That being said, I am the mother of a young lady. I have seen many young women riding on the back of the bf's bike without a helmet, leathers or any other protection.

It scares me to think that a bike going 60MPH can be hit by a truck, flip in a pot hole on the road, or simply blow a tire and one or both passengers can be dead in a matter of a split second.

Maybe your intuition is trying to tell you something...

  6. Sure, it can be dangerous. I'd say this is a seeing a cup half empty half full type situation, instead of looking at the few who get hurt, think of the millions who ride them daily without getting hurt.

  7. Fear stops success. Everyone has their fears. Spiders, snakes, darkness, etc. Although, most of these fears are either caused by people's imagination, or are harmless. But how can you tell if the danger is real, and most importantly, how to get over being afraid of it? Read this guide to find out!

    here are some tips:

Analyze the fear. Can it harm you at any way? If it can't, then there is nothing to be afraid of (but still read the rest of the guide, just to be comfortable and completely wipe off the fear). If it can hurt you, keep reading the guide for a solution. For example, a garter snake cannot harm you, it just eats spiders and bugs. If you touch it, you will not die/get severely hurt (even if it bites you, which is not likely). But, rattle snakes, on the other hand, are dangerous and if you touch it, you might get bitten.

Look at what others are doing. For example, you are afraid to ride that totally extreme roller-coaster in the theme park. Look at the ages of people who are riding it (probably 9 to 50). If you are in that age range, examine your own health condition. Consult your doctor for medical advice. If you are healthy and in the correct age range, you can freely ride a coaster without worrying about getting hurt.

Confront whatever it is you're afraid of directly. If you are afraid of harmless spiders in your basement, catch one and hold it in your hand. This can be tough if you are arachnophobic, but try to hold it for a long time until the gross-out feeling is gone. Do that a couple times. If you are afraid of certain action, do steps 1 & 2 and if it's safe, do it.

If your fear is truly dangerous, find a way to treat it. I wouldn't recommend doing previous step in this situation. Although, you can find some safety rules and put yourself in a condition where you can be safe even if the fear is in front of you. Other most important rule here is not to panic. Just act cool and assure yourself that as long as you follow the safety guidelines, your fear is harmless and nothing to be afraid of.

Change the way you think and you change the way you act. You can control your thoughts. Since you're only able to consciously think about one thing at a time, only allow positive thoughts to go through your mind. Whenever a negative thought or fear enters, simply choose to stop it right in its tracks and immediately change that thought to something positive.

Deliberately program right thoughts into your head every single day. This is the best way to change the picture of fear into one of victory.

Realize the best defense from fear is a good offense. What you imagine is almost always worse than the truth. So many times the "truth" you see in your mind is only the truth as you believe it to be. So sometimes the best thing is the very thing you fear, even if you have to do it afraid.

    good luck : )
