How can i get rid of this message???

my computer always pops up a message saying "windows is running low on virtual memory" something like that.. what can i do to get it fixed??

you have to many windows or programs running, each program has memory and takes bit of the computer's memory with them. But once a few programs are shut down and it restores itself. Sometimes restarting the computer also helps.
