im 15 so yes i have many years ahead of me to do so...i have been uncertain for my career choice...i have been on and off my whole life. but one thing for certain is i love animals. ive always wanted an exotic pet...i have 3 dogs and 2 fish and ive had guinea pigs..but thats it...ive always dreamed of having my own horse (i horseback ride) or better a very exotic pet such as a monkey or a tiger.

i realized owning my own exotic animal farm would be amazing. i could be around animals all day long which is what i love. my dogs mean the world to me...science is my favorite subject and i have a feeling i would need to major in zoology right?

any other classes i would have to take? && what college type to go too? any recommendations? and after college how do i get started?? i live in surburban new york not anywhere near farms so its not like i live on one already

  1. Not really sure how you propose to make money by owning a bunch of exotic animals.  Also, there are laws pretty much everywhere about owning certain types of animals, you may not be able to own much of anything beside regular household pets depending on where you live.  Also, you mention owning a tiger...every tiger species on the planet is endangered..not only would it be illegal to own such an animal, but by owning one you would be contributing to it's extinction.  If you truly love wild animals you would NEVER want to own one for your own selfish satisfaction.  If you want to study zoology to study animals in the wild or to work in a zoo, that is a different story.  Some zoos do not require their keepers to have a degree, some will take you on as a volunteer, or you can do a unpaid intership to work your way up to a paid position.  Check out your local zoo to see what type of programs they offer.
