FIRST - i know the 3 red lights are a bad thing!

My Xbox 360 has 1 red light. I have had my Xbox for over a year, so i can't get it repaired on warranty. Microsoft ONLY repair Xbox's for FREE if they have 3 red lights. It will cost me ALLOT of money to get it repaired and sent away, so i was wondering if anyone knew how i can get the 3 red lights so i can get it mended / replaced for free? I'm not the only one with this problem, so any answers are much appreciated!

  1. Hi Billy

You could do the towel trick until you get the 3 red lights, however you may run into problems as you get the same Xbox sent back to you and you do not want to fry the Xbox.

Just keep on turning it off and on again and the 3 red lights should appear eventually.

    Hope this helps!

  2. THe one Red Light is easier to fix.

  3. the three red lights has to do with your xbox over heating so if you want to get it on purpose i would put your xbox in a small area with lots of stuff around it and leave it on for a long time.

if you have a 360 elite you will not get the three red lights

  4. Why would you wanna do that?

Any ways play for like 12 hrs and if it freezes turn it back on then you will have the 3 red rings.

Do it repeatedly if it doesn't work the first time

  5. Wrap it in a towel and play

  6. Dude. The repair with Ms will only cost $79... Stop being poor. You can't get the 3 red lights on purpose. It just hapenns by itself.

  7. Microsoft has had a really poor track record repairing 360s regardless of what was wrong with them in the first place.  Many people have sent in one 360 due to the RROD, only to get a different 360 back that was still broken, or broke soon after they got it.  People sending in their 360 2, 3, even as many as 7(!) times to get it fixed are not uncommon.

So even if you could induce your 360 to get the RROD, you'll probably never get a fully functioning 360 back.  Honestly, you're almost better off just buying a brand new one as you'll get a new warranty and all that.
